About JUVY
Julian Crane is the amoral son of Alistair Crane and the late Katherine Barrett Crane. The only person who Julian fears is his father Alistair, a man who remains a mysterious presence presiding over the Crane family. Ivy Winthrop, the daughter of former governor Harrison Winthrop and his wife, Helen Revere-Mott-Beaton-Winthrop. (And they call THERESA the hyphen queen of Harmony...yikes!) Ivy dotes on her son Ethan, and on the love she shared with Sam Bennett years ago. Stick them together, and what do you get? Yeah, that's right, JUVY. Their marriage was one made "in Wall Street", as Ivy said; arranged, and convenient. Harrison's business (he owned fleets of ships) had gone belly up, and he was concerned about the boy Ivy had been seeing all summer: Sam Bennett. Alistair was looking to expand his empire overseas, gain political pull, and get his son away from nightclub singer Eve Johnson (with whom Julian would have a son, whom Alistair supposedly had killed). The two men swapped stones, killing all the birds in one fell swoop. Julian and Ivy were married in October 1976. Not without some scheming and manipulating, however. To keep Sam away from Ivy, Harrison offered his daughter's beau a job on one of his ships that kept Sam away all summer giving Julian a chance to swoop in for the kill, so to speak. All the while, Ivy was completely in the dark about Julian's (as well as her father's and Alistair's) intentions. Ivy never let go of Sam, and only lost faith in him after reading a letter from the captain of the ship to her father which said that Sam was picking up a girl (and a huge blood alcohol content) at every port. Her trust was shattered, and she turned to Julian. Julian and Ivy became the supercouple of the summer, society darlings. Ivy was the envy of every snobby country club girl. Their envy only increased when Julian proposed after he and Ivy won the country club regatta. And so began the fairy tale that never quite reached Happily Ever After. On her wedding night to Julian, Ivy heard him say he didn't want her, but Clarissa Morton, Ivy's sorority sister. (Despite what they say on the show, Julian never said he didn't love Ivy that night.) Ivy was crushed, and ran to Sam. She spent the night with him, leaving Julian to wonder where she had gone, and setting the tone for their marriage. Ivy never forgave Julian for that night, and never let go of Sam, thus ruining her own marriage. Ivy blames Julian for the state of their relationship, while he blames her. Truthfully, it was both of their faults. Julian's for his countless adulteries and lies, Ivy's for never giving Julian a chance. Everything was going just peachy for a good twenty years, until Ivy saw her first love, Sam Bennett again. She immediately resolved to get him back, driving an even bigger wedge between herself and Julian. He determined that she had a secret, and vowed to find it out. However, it wouldn't be he that would discover what she had been hiding, but Theresa. And on the night of Ethan and Theresa's engagement party, the secret came out, in the form of a tabloid report. Ivy's son Ethan was fathered by Sam, not Julian. Julian was crushed, and irate. His frustration with Ivy for refusing to truly be his wife had become utter hatred for the woman who lied to him about the most important thing in his life. Well, Ivy didn't get Sam back. What she did get, however, was divorce papers. She'll be contesting the divorce from Julian with every fiber of her being. Especially now that she's wheelchair bound as a result of being struck by lightning, and back in the mansion to recover. Julian, recently engaged to Rebecca and married to Theresa, has enough trouble without the divorce. He was forced to murder his sister, Sheridan; and was married to an inebriated Theresa in Bermuda. A bigamist and the victim of several murder attempts, poor Julian has a lot on his plate. Will our main man win back his lady love? Now with the gruesome twosome back under the same roof, and Ivy contesting the divorce, it should make for something interesting. Will JUVY fall in love all over again? Only time will tell. (LMAO okay that is SO lame...I can't believe I even wrote that...HAHA!)
